Our Story

Hi, my name is Jan, and I am the owner of Keepin Katz. Our cattery has been providing a safe, caring, and trusted environment for cats for over 25 years. Originally established in June 2001 by Roy and Alison Keepin, the cattery has built a long-standing reputation for genuine care and attention to every cat that stays with us.

We (daughter, Amy, hubby, Andre, and myself) took over as custodians of Keepin Katz in December 2016.

Before taking ownership, Amy worked in the cattery for over a year, and I had been helping behind the scenes for many months. This gave us a valuable foundation to ensure a smooth transition while continuing to grow and improve what we offer.

Since then, we’ve made ongoing improvements to both our facilities and systems, always with one goal in mind, creating the best possible experience for our feline guests and peace of mind for their owners.

Amy and I are hands-on in the day-to-day care of every cat who stays with us. We take the time to understand each cat’s personality, routine, and needs, so we can provide a calm and personalised experience during their stay.

We are trained in administering all types of medication, including injections, so you can feel confident your cat will receive the highest level of care if needed.

Andre supports the cattery behind the scenes, focusing on maintenance, safety, and ongoing improvements across the property. His work ensures our facilities remain secure, well-kept, and continually evolving.

At Home

Our love for cats extends beyond the cattery. At home, we share our lives with our much-loved cats, our twin tuxedos, Awhi and Hemi, and Shadow, who arrived as a stray and chose to stay.

They spend their days enjoying our garden (our own little botanical jungle), living the relaxed, happy life we want for every cat in our care.
